Hygge House Books
Gifts | Services / Experiences
Hygge House Books is a pop-up bookshop infused with the Danish concept of "hygge". More than just being cozy, hygge is about that feeling of contentment you get whether you're immersed in good book alone or gathering with good people. We partner with local makers and businesses to bring the community together over hygge-inspired products, quality, diverse books, and rich literary experiences including book tastings and author events.

Founder Beth Orsini
As a former middle school ELA teacher, Beth knows the power of a good book. She began Hygge House Books as a way to help both kids and adults discover books that matter. Her passion for literacy has driven her social mission to increase book access in underprivileged areas, and her belief in genuine connection has led to her create unique book experiences that bring people together.
Why did you apply for Project Pop-Up?
When I came up with the idea of Hygge House Books in January 2020, I had envisioned a cozy, inviting bookshop that would embody the Danish concept of hygge~the feeling of being content in a moment. Covid and financial restrictions prevented that from happening, so I pivoted and created partnerships with local businesses to bring the hygge on the road. When I saw that Project: Pop-Up was coming to my town, I applied immediately. Still imagining that cozy little bookshop, I feel like it can now be so much more. I hope to build upon the connections I've made and highlight local hygge-minded creators in the shop. I will offer diverse, quality literature for all ages, allowing books to windows, mirrors, and doors for my guests. And more than that, I hope for this shop to be a welcome gathering place for members of the community - whether alone or in groups. Book clubs, after-school activities to birthday parties to game nights, all are welcome to visit, shop, read, and discover. I have so many ideas, and so many good people I've connected with on my journey thus far, that I know that we can make something really special here.
